Basketball Recap: Gibault Catholic Takes a Loss

Gibault Catholic was the 48-41 winner over Waterloo when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Gibault Catholic Hawks lost 57-34 to the Waterloo Bulldogs on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 458th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 55th).

Alex Stell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Waterloo, as he made all 14 shots he took to post 31 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Stell's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Oswald, who made all 6 shots he took to post 14 points.

Gibault Catholic is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5. As for Waterloo, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Gibault Catholic will host Mater Dei at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Waterloo, they will venture away from home to challenge Freeburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Waterloo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
