Softball Recap: Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Makes It 17 in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Nokomis Redskins a 7-0 shutout on Monday. Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Samantha Hayes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Zaida Wascher was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Clarissa Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg pushed their record up to 21-5 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Nokomis, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.
