Basketball Recap: Newton-Conover Takes a Loss

Newton-Conover extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-4. They were outmatched by the North Lincoln Knights and fell 69-32. The game marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for North Lincoln, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.2 points over those games.

North Lincoln was led to victory by Beckett Rinkus and Carter Abernethy. Rinkus almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine assists, while Abernethy went 9-for-11 to rack up 19 points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Rinkus is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Canyon Keilman, who posted nine points.

Looking ahead, Newton-Conover will head out to challenge Bandys at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for North Lincoln, they and East Lincoln will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. The Knights will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
