Preview: Sauquoit Valley Indians vs. Central Valley Academy Thunder
Sauquoit Valley is 0-3 against Central Valley Academy since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Both teams will round out the year against one another at 1:30 p.m. at. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On December 4th, Sauquoit Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Cooperstown, but they still walked away with a 63-59 victory.
Meanwhile, Central Valley Academy waltzed into their match Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 70-59 victory over Norwich. Given Central Valley Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Norwich is ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central Valley Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tom Jacquays, who shot 4-for-5 from deep and dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, and Deacon Judd, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Judd's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Luke, who scored 11 points.
Sauquoit Valley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Central Valley Academy, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.
Sauquoit Valley came up short against Central Valley Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2019, falling 56-44. Thankfully for Sauquoit Valley, Jaylon O'neal (who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
