Preview: Venture Academy Mustangs vs. Vanden Vikings
The Venture Academy Mustangs and the Vanden Vikings will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Venture Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Vanden likes a good challenge.
Venture Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season. They blew past East Union 72-48. Given Venture Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while East Union is ranked 957th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Mario Williams, who scored 26 points along with three blocks. The matchup was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Segura, who scored eight points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Vanden scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 81-55 margin over Crossroads. Vanden might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three contests by 21 points or more this season.
Venture Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.33 points. As for Vanden, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
