Volleyball Recap: Gordon Central Comes Up Short

Gordon Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Rome Wolves, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Gordon Central was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-15, 25-9.

Shelby Bodiford paced Gordon Central's offense, picking up three kills. Bodiford got some help from Baylee Chastain and her five assists. Chastain was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Gordon Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Rome, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-9.

Coming up, Gordon Central will face off against North Murray at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rome, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Armuchee on the 23rd.
