Basketball Game Preview: King's Academy Lions vs. Inlet Grove Hurricanes

Two dominant guards in Javian Jones and Robert Brown are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The King's Academy Lions will face off against the Inlet Grove Hurricanes on Friday. One thing working in King's Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.

King's Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against American Heritage by a score of 74-65. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Jones, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and ten boards. Those 37 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matt Mcpherson, who went 6 of 12 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Inlet Grove hadn't done well against Cardinal Newman recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Inlet Grove skirted past Cardinal Newman 54-51.

Inlet Grove found their leader in sophomore Brown, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayler Hodge White, who posted eight points.

Inlet Grove has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for King's Academy, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.

Everything came up roses for King's Academy against Inlet Grove in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, as the squad secured a 79-34 victory. In that game, King's Academy amassed a halftime lead of 43-17, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
