Baseball Recap: West Ranch Takes a Loss

West Ranch fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Layton on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 7-6. It was the first time this season that the Wildcats let down their fans at home.

Landon Hu was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Roen, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Even though they lost, West Ranch hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in eight consecutive matchups.

West Ranch suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 10-6. As for Layton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Ranch will welcome Valencia at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Layton, they will host Riverton at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
