Basketball Recap: Clark Comes Up Short

Clark fought the good fight in their overtime game against Brandeis on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Brandeis Broncos by a score of 50-47. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 41-35 back in January.

Abigail Burdette was nothing short of spectacular for Brandeis: she went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 22 points and six boards. That's the most points Burdette has posted since back in November of 2024. Peyton Pierson was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight rebounds.

Clark has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season. As for Brandeis, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-17 record this season.

Clark and Brandeis should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Clark will challenge SA Roosevelt at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 605 places (226 vs. 831). Meanwhile, Brandeis (ranked 254th) will meet Madison (ranked 932nd) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
