Basketball Game Preview: Gadsden County Jaguars vs. Marianna Bulldogs

Gadsden County and Marianna are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Gadsden County Jaguars will face off against the Marianna Bulldogs on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Gadsden County came up into this matchup off a tough 39-point loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Chiles by a score of 48-45 on Saturday. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Marianna came up short against Malone on Friday and fell 41-33.

Gadsden County will need focus on slowing down Dessiah Gee, one of several Marianna players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 12 points. That was a full 36.4% of Marianna's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Harmoni Gibson, who earned nine points and eight rebounds.

Gadsden County now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Marianna, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-14.

Things could have been worse for Gadsden County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-38 loss to Marianna when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can Gadsden County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
