Basketball Recap: Jamestown Takes a Loss

Jamestown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They fell 57-49 to the Essex Trojans. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly eight points.

Essex's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makiryn Williams led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. Williams has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryeon Robinson, who went 6 of 13 to rack up 17 points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Jamestown's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Essex, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.

Coming up, Jamestown will face off against Bruton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Essex, they will square off against Rappahannock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
