Recap: West Orange Mountaineers vs. Mount St. Dominic Academy Lions
In what's become a running theme this season, the West Orange Mountaineers gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They put the hurt on Mount St. Dominic Academy with a sharp 54-32 victory. The win was some much needed relief for West Orange as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Leading West Orange to victory were Anaya Karriem and Kyley Gary-Grayson. Karriem dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Gary-Grayson scored 14 points along with three steals. Karriem has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Francis-Bunkley, who scored nine points along with two steals.
West Orange's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Mount St. Dominic Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Orange will challenge Caldwell at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mount St. Dominic Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Essex at 5:30 p.m. on February 13th.
