Baseball Game Preview: Stevenson Spartans vs. Canton Cobras

The Stevenson Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Canton Cobras at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Stevenson hasn't scored more than a single run for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Stevenson made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Northville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Spartans fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-1 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Spartans have suffered since April 5th.

Stevenson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Gawkowski, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Canton got themselves on the board against Wayne Memorial on Monday, but Wayne Memorial never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Zebras with a sharp 10-0 win. That's two games straight that the Cobras have won by exactly ten runs.

Canton now has a winning record of 15-14-1. As for Stevenson, their loss dropped their record down to 17-19-1.

Stevenson couldn't quite get it done against Canton when the teams last played back in April as they fell 5-1. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
