Montverde Academy is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Orange Beach. The Eagles fell just short of the Makos by a score of 3-2. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Nevaeh Williams spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Luna Taboas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Leila Susaia was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Montverde Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-2. As for Orange Beach, the victory was the 22nd in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-1.
