Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Fairview's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Fairview was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Edon on Friday. The Apaches blew past the Bombers 12-2. This was payback for the Apaches, who suffered a 7-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lilly Warner spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kortney Grinnell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayla Mavis, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Fairview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Fairview has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Edon, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-10.

Coming up, Fairview will head out on the road to face off against Liberty Center at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Apaches' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Edon, they will welcome Edgerton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
