Basketball Recap: Windham Takes a Loss

Windham lost against St. Bernard back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Windham Whippets were outmatched by the St. Bernard Saints and fell 97-58. While losing is never fun, the Whippets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Saints are ranked third).

When it comes to explaining why Windham lost, don't look at Malcolm Hunter. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Francisco Alvarado, who put up eight points.

It was another big night for Amyre Gray, who went 12-for-20 en route to 34 points along with seven assists and five steals for St. Bernard. Gray's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Tyler Mangual was another key player, putting up 18 points and five boards.

Windham's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for St. Bernard, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Windham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-56 win against Amistad on the 10th. As for St. Bernard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 77-62 victory against Fitch on the 11th.
