Softball Recap: Atlantic City Extends Winning Streak to Three

Atlantic City had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bridgeton Bulldogs a 19-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-2 back in April.

Mia Marota was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Jojo Mejia was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Atlantic City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .829. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .732 or higher in three consecutive games.

Atlantic City's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bridgeton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Coming up, Atlantic City will venture away from home to challenge Lower Cape May at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bridgeton, they will host Wildwood Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
