Basketball Recap: Corinne Loomis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverton Parke over West Vigo

If Riverton Parke was feeling good fresh off their 60-36 takedown of South Vermillion last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Riverton Parke Panthers took a 43-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Vigo Vikings on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Riverton Parke's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corinne Loomis, who posted seven points and seven boards. Loomis has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Haylee Mathas was another key player, putting up 12 points.

West Vigo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaycee Elkins out in front who had seven points and seven assists. Those seven assists gave Elkins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bayli Vester, who earned 11 points.

Riverton Parke's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for West Vigo, their record now sits at 6-14.

Riverton Parke didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-11 loss against Fountain Central on the 30th. As for West Vigo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 44-39 defeat against North Vermillion on the 30th.
