Basketball Recap: De'quayvian Lovette's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Burke County over Carver

Burke County and Carver squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Burke County had to settle for second. They lost 75-54 to the Carver Tigers. The matchup was a close 29-26 at the break, but unfortunately for the Bears it sure didn't stay that way.

Burke County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was De'Quayvian Lovette, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 16 points. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Omarion Cobb, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Burke County's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Carver, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-2 record this season.

Burke County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carver, they will be playing at home against Spencer at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Carver's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 19 games.
