Baseball Recap: Dr. Krop Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Monsignor Pace, Dr. Krop was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Mater Lakes Academy Bears. This was payback for the Lightning, who suffered a 7-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Marco Loreto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Dr. Krop is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryan Pena, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Emmanuel Dominguez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Dr. Krop is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Mater Lakes Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9-4.

Looking ahead, Dr. Krop will look to defend their home field on Thursday against ABF Academy at 3:30 p.m. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they will venture away from home to take on St. Brendan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
