Basketball Recap: James F. Byrnes Falls Short Against Ranked Riverside

On Friday, James F. Byrnes faced Riverside in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The James F. Byrnes Rebels fell 63-52 to the Riverside Warriors. The Rebels just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Despite the loss, James F. Byrnes still got an impressive performance from Jamari Cullen, who went 8-for-12 en route to 20 points and five boards. That's the most points Cullen has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Freddie Lowery, who had six points and seven rebounds.

James F. Byrnes suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 23-3. As for Riverside, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

James F. Byrnes has already played their next game, an 86-59 win against Rock Hill on the 17th. Riverside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
