Soccer Game Preview: Eastern Montgomery vs. Tazewell

The Eastern Montgomery Mustangs will head out to take on the Tazewell Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Montgomery is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.

Eastern Montgomery's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Narrows as they made off with a 7-0 victory. Give Eastern Montgomery's defense some credit: that's the team's ninth straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Tazewell unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against Graham, falling 5-2. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Tazewell were already down 4-1.

Eastern Montgomery pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those seven contests. As for Tazewell, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3-1.

Eastern Montgomery was able to grind out a solid win over Tazewell in their previous matchup back in March, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
