Softball Game Preview: Wilson Wildcats vs. Charter Oak Chargers

For the second straight game, Wilson will face off against Charter Oak. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Chargers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Wilson has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Charter Oak will arrive with nine straight wins.

Wilson managed to slip by Charter Oak the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Wildcats lost 10-0 to the Chargers on Tuesday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

For Charter Oak's part, Leila Diebert made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Diebert has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Lopez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Lyla Caston was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Charter Oak's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Wilson, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
