Basketball Recap: Ellinwood Comes Up Short

Ellinwood lost against Central Plains back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Ellinwood Eagles took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Plains Oilers.

When it comes to explaining why Ellinwood lost, don't look at Landon Simpson. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-16 en route to 25 points and six boards. Simpson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Drake Hosman was another key player, putting up nine points.

Ellinwood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. Central Plains' win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Ellinwood has already played their next game, a 79-39 victory against Kinsley on the 14th. As for Central Plains, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-20 win against LaCrosse on the 14th.
