Basketball Recap: Daviea Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Community Baptist Christian over Maranatha Baptist

Community Baptist Christian's tournament run continued when they took on Maranatha Baptist on Thursday. The Community Baptist Christian Cougars fell 65-52 to the Maranatha Baptist Crusaders. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daviea Jones, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sam Maller, who posted 16 points.

Community Baptist Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Maranatha Baptist, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.

Coincidentally, Community Baptist Christian and Maranatha Baptist will both be playing Crosspointe Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Maranatha Baptist will head out to face Crosspointe Christian Academy at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, while Community Baptist Christian will play them later in the day, at 3:30 p.m.
