Softball Recap: Vernon Picks Up Eighth Straight Win on the Road

Vernon entered their tilt with Lenape Valley on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Patriots. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 12-0 victory back in April.

Miranda Ebbighausen made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth ?E? Peek, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Kaitlyn VanBlarcom was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Vernon lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Vernon's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Lenape Valley, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
