Softball Recap: Chiles Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

Chiles won the last time they faced North Florida Christian and things went their way on Monday too. The Timberwolves put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 9-1 victory. Considering the Timberwolves have won 16 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Anna Kate Barber made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Barber was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Mia Hemenway was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Scout Joyner, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Chiles is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Florida Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chiles will welcome Leon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.68 runs per game on average), something the Timberwolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North Florida Christian, they will challenge Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
