Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jones). They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Canyon Lake 6-4. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by exactly two runs.
Davyn Perez made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Perez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, BJ Rivas and Tyler Lang did most of the damage at the plate: Rivas scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Lang scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, Lang posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Ambrose Arrendondo also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
The victory made it two in a row for Jones and bumps their season record up to 3-5-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Canyon Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2-1.
