Baseball Game Preview: Columbus Discoverers vs. Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks

Columbus hasn't had much luck against Lincoln Southwest recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Columbus will host Lincoln Southwest at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Columbus took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top against Seward by a score of 5-2. The Discoverers haven't had any issues with the Bluejays recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Dayton Snyder looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Columbus let Connor Cameron and Grant Zoucha run wild. Cameron scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4, while Zoucha scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Quenton Gustafson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Southwest had just enough and edged out Omaha Westside 5-4 on Saturday.

Andrew Jackson tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Ty Phillips was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Bolte, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Lincoln Southwest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha Westside only managed six hits.
