Basketball Recap: Greeley Central Takes a Loss

Greeley Central played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 63-31 loss at the hands of the Timnath Cubs. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Cubs are ranked 114th).

Daniel Martinez and Neamiah Carrillo certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Martinez almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Carrillo posted ten points. Martinez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 25 games he's played dating back to last season.

Greeley Central has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Timnath, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Greeley Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northridge has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Timnath, they will take on Loveland at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
