Baseball Recap: Antioch Wins Going Away Against Fort Zumwalt East

The Antioch Sequoits got the win against the Fort Zumwalt East Lions on Monday by a conclusive 13-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sequoits.

Antioch got a great performance from Carson Young as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Young a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Evan Schmidt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Mozina, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Antioch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Antioch's victory bumped their record up to 2-3-1. As for Fort Zumwalt East, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Antioch beat Fort Zumwalt East by a score of 13-2 later that day.
