Football Preview: Brenham Cubs vs. Gilmer Buckeyes
The Brenham Cubs are taking a road trip to challenge the Gilmer Buckeyes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brenham will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Brenham is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest at home last Thursday with ease, bagging a 73-42 victory over Killeen. The result was nothing new for the Cubs, who have now won three matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Brenham can attribute much of their success to Hagen Frank, who picked up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown. Frank torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 90 yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Brenham was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 349 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2023.

Gilmer found their leader in underclassman Zade Taylor, who rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Brenham's record now sits at 4-0. As for Gilmer, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.
