            Basketball Preview: Lone Star Longhorns vs. Weldon Valley Warriors        
        
		
        
        
            Having just played yesterday, the Lone Star Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Weldon Valley Warriors  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Weldon Valley took a loss in their last  match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lone Star, who comes in off a win.
Lone Star will bounce into Friday's   contest after  beating Idalia, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Lone Star came out on top in a nail-biter against Idalia on Thursday, sneaking past  45-43.
Lone Star's success was spearheaded by the efforts of   Grant Kuntz, who  dropped  a double-double on 16 points and 12  boards, and   Anderson Weathers, who  went 6 for 9  en route to 14  points in addition to seven  rebounds and four  steals. Kuntz is becoming a predictor of Lone Star's success: when he posts  at  least eight  boards the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).  Jesus Hermosillo was another key player,  putting up seven points and six  rebounds.
 Lone Star  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with ten  offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least eight  offensive boards in five consecutive  games.
 Meanwhile,  it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose  66-27, which was the final score in Weldon Valley's tilt against Front Range Baptist on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings  (they are ranked 307th, while the Falcons are ranked 141st).
 The  victory  got Lone Star back to even at 4-4. As for Weldon Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
 Lone Star skirted past Weldon Valley  40-37 in their previous matchup  back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lone Star since the  squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
