Burney has gone 8-2 against Redding Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Burney has six straight wins, Redding Christian has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Burney is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since April 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Los Molinos 5-4.

Mia Perez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Perez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Alyssa Hawkins was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Redding Christian came up short against CORE Butte on Tuesday and fell 11-6.

Miki Lane made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Dannica Corona, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Burney pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Redding Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-1.

Burney took their win against Redding Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
