Softball Preview: Fairfield Lions vs. Northwest Mohawks

Fairfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Northwest Mohawks at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Fairfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.

Fairfield stacked a 17th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Westfall an 8-0 shutout.

Not much got past Katelyn Chambliss, who gave up just three hits to keep Westfall off the board.

At the plate, Carly Sanders was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Rilee Quickle, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Northwest's good fortune finally ran out last Thursday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jackson.

Fairfield is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.

Fairfield might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Northwest in their previous matchup back in April. Can Fairfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
