Byron barely beat Zumbrota-Mazeppa the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp  13-6 win on Tuesday. The Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  runs they've scored all season.
 Tallie Behrens made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out ten batters over  seven innings while giving up  four earned  (and two unearned) runs off   five  hits. She also put up three  walks, which were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-5.
 In other batting news,  Kaydence Fjerstad and  Macy Behringer did most of the damage at the plate:  Fjerstad  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-5, while  Behringer  scored two  runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave  Behringer a new career-high in  RBI (two). Another player making a difference was  Leeah Strain, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 Byron  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 16  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least eight  hits in four consecutive  contests.
Byron now  has a winning record of 3-2. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 1-2.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Byron is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Cannon Falls  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Zumbrota-Mazeppa will  face off against  rival Pine Island  at 6:30  p.m.  on Monday.
