Basketball Recap: Vail Mountain's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Vail Mountain's game back in December of 2024 was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 32-23 win over the Vail Christian Saints. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Gore Rangers as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Vail Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abby Adochio led the charge by putting up nine points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. Adochio is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Marston, who posted three points along with 13 boards and six steals.

Vail Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Vail Mountain's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Vail Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Vail Mountain and Caprock Academy will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Vail Mountain is facing Caprock Academy at the right time seeing as Caprock Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Vail Christian, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against West Grand at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. West Grand's defense has only allowed 22.3 points per game this season, so Vail Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them.
