Baseball Game Preview: Central Columbia Bluejays vs. Hughesville Spartans

The Central Columbia Bluejays are taking a road trip to face off against the Hughesville Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Central Columbia's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Bloomsburg. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bluejays.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hughesville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Tunkhannock by a score of 6-1 on Saturday.

Hughesville got a great performance from Nathan Bieber as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Wynter Fogelmen was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jedidiah Abernatha was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hughesville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Central Columbia, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

Central Columbia skirted past Hughesville 9-8 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bluejays since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
