Softball Recap: Alamogordo Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with La Cueva

Alamogordo faced La Cueva in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Tigers fell 6-2 to the Bears. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

The defeat snapped Alamogordo's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-2 record. As for La Cueva, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Alamogordo wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-1 loss against Centennial on the 31st. As for La Cueva, they will look to defend their home field on the 7th against Manzano at 3:00 p.m. The timing is sure in the Bears' favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while the Monarchs have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
