Basketball Recap: Southern Takes a Loss

Southern lost against Severna Park back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Southern Bulldogs took a 39-25 bruising from the Severna Park Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Falcons are ranked 95th).

Despite the defeat, Southern saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Huntyr Marks posted 12 points.

Southern has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Severna Park, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-5.

Southern will face off against Old Mill at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Severna Park, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-41 win against Meade on the 15th.
