Basketball Recap: Denver West Piles Up the Points Against DMLK

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Denver West). They blew past the DMLK Panthers 57-17 on Tuesday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cowboys had established a 20 point advantage.

Shukri Hussein went supernova for Denver West, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Hussein a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Heaven Martinez, who went 6 of 11 en route to 12 points.

Denver West smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

The victory got Denver West back to even at 4-4. As for DMLK, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Denver West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-33 win against Lincoln on the 10th. As for DMLK, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-15 defeat against Kennedy on the 10th.
