Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Hoisington

Hoisington extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping their season record up to 11-7 in the process. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Halstead Dragons a 10-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 on Friday.

Tyrus Penka made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hoisington let Lane French and Rhen Galla run wild. French got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Galla went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Galla a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Ingram, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Hoisington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Halstead only posted an OBP of .211.

As for Halstead, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. While getting shut out isn't ideal, they haven't been shut out since back in March.

On Halstead's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Diehl, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Diehl's first of the season.

Looking ahead, Hoisington will venture away from home to face off against Smoky Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Halstead does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
