The Dominican Knights will take on the Milwaukee King Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dominican is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Dominican will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Catholic Central, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Knights put the hurt on the Hilltoppers with a sharp 14-4 victory on Thursday. Considering the Knights have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Lily Weiler was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Weiler was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Dominican got a massive performance out of Cate Wahlen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that Wahlen has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Vivian Snyder, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Dominican hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Milwaukee King fell victim to Milwaukee Reagan and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Huskies, falling 20-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Generals' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Dominican's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 9.2 runs thus far. As for Milwaukee King, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Dominican was able to grind out a solid victory over Milwaukee King in their previous matchup back in June of 2021, winning 10-6. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Generals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
