Centerville waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Fairmont Firebirds as they made off with a 3-0 victory. This was a revenge game for the Elks: when they faced off against the Firebirds on September 2nd, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.
One reason for the win was Centerville's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-10, 25-9.
Centerville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hadley Heil out in front who had 11 digs and three aces. Heil is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelly Horky, who had seven digs and two aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Centerville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in three consecutive matches.
Centerville's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Fairmont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.
