Basketball Recap: Jacksonville's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Jacksonville came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Alexandria Valley Cubs by a score of 61-52. Given the Golden Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Valley Cubs are ranked 180th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jacksonville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayci Taylor led the charge by putting up 26 points and eight boards. Taylor's big performance that evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Neveah Nicholson, who posted 18 points.

Jacksonville's record now sits at 8-1. As for Alexandria, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Jacksonville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-31 victory against Anniston on the 12th. Alexandria has also already played their next contest (against Saks), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
