Basketball Recap: Lawrence County Comes Up Short

Lawrence County lost against Russellville back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lawrence County Red Devils were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to the Russellville Golden Tigers.

When it comes to explaining why Lawrence County lost, don't look at Braylon Dame. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 16 on his way to 26 points and five boards. Dame's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jackson Smith was another key player, putting up eight points and 13 rebounds.

EJ King was his usual excellent self, posting 32 points for Russellville. That makes it eight consecutive games in which King has scored at least a third of Russellville's points. Another player making a difference was Sir Williams, who posted ten points.

Lawrence County's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Russellville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Lawrence County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-46 defeat against West Point on the 14th. As for Russellville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-34 win against Phil Campbell on the 13th.
