Football Game Preview: Spanish Fort Toros vs. Gulf Shores Dolphins + How To Watch

Spanish Fort is a perfect 8-0 against Gulf Shores since August of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Toros will venture away from home to take on the Dolphins at 7:00 p.m. Spanish Fort will be strutting in after a victory while Gulf Shores will be coming in after a loss.

Spanish Fort took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They strolled past Blount with points to spare, taking the game 41-22. The win continues a trend for the Toros in their matchups with the Leopards: they've now won seven in a row.

Justin 'JuJu' Bonner was his usual excellent self, rushing for 136 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries, while also picking up 64 receiving yards and one score. Spanish Fort is 3-1 when Bonner posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Jaylyn 'JJ' Thibodeaux was another key player, throwing for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Spanish Fort proved: they limited Blount to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Sam Wilder for the heroic effort on defense: he. Spanish Fort didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.2.

Spanish Fort didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Henry Perryman and Tykwon 'Trelan' Thomas. Thomas got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Gulf Shores' game on Friday was all tied up 17-17 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 27-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Paul's Episcopal. The Dolphins have struggled against the Saints recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Spanish Fort will need to focus on slowing down Jud Harris, one of several Gulf Shores players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 204 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 37 yards. A healthy portion of Harris' aerial production (93 yards to be exact) went to Nick Hampton, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Gulf Shores' defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Spanish Fort, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Spanish Fort strolled past Gulf Shores when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 31-15. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Toros since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
