Basketball Recap: Canutillo Snags 11th Victory in Last 13 Games

Canutillo won the last time they faced Ysleta and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Canutillo Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 victory over the Ysleta Indians. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since January 2nd.

Canutillo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jay Taylor, who posted 12 points. Donovan Mozer was another key player, putting up eight points.

Despite the loss, Ysleta still got an impressive performance from Azaiah Thompson, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 24 points along with eight boards and four blocks. Thompson's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Herrera, who had nine points.

Canutillo is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Ysleta, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.
