Baseball Recap: Taft Comes Up Short

Taft was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wheeling Wildcats.

Andrew Korolis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Taft's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 14-18 when he doesn't). Julian Muntean also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 16-19. As for Wheeling, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-20.

Taft does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wheeling, they will venture away from home to take on Mundelein at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
