Fort Bend Travis is 9-1 against Fort Bend Austin since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Fort Bend Travis took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Fort Bend Elkins with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Austin made easy work of Fort Bend Clements on Friday and carried off a 9-2 win.
Ioanna Avlonitis and Roxanna Ramirez made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Avlonitis tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Ramirez struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, Avlonitis posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. At bat, Avlonitis scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Ramirez went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Piper Murchison looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Zoey Hoh was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Penny Strohl, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Fort Bend Travis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Fort Bend Austin, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
